LEGAL STATUS OF THE NES

The bodies of the National Employment Service (NES) are: Managing Board, Supervisory Board and Director.

MANAGING BOARD

The National Employment Service is managed by the Managing Board. The scope of its work and responsibility is defined by the Law on Employment and Unemployment Insurance (Article 62-67) and the Statute of the NES (Article 15-21).

The Managing Board consists of 15 members, appointed and relieved from duty by the Government of the Republic of Serbia every 4 years.

The present members of the Managing Board, appointed by the Decision of the Government of the Republic of Serbia of October 22, 2004, are:

• Bojan Ristic, member
• Srdjan Canovic, member
• Vera Pesut, member
• Dragan Cvetkovic, member

• Dragan Djukic, member.

SUPERVISORY BOARD

The scope of activity of the Supervisory Board is defined by the Law on Employment and Unemployment Insurance (Article 68-69) and the Statute of the National Employment Service (Article 22-26).

The Supervisory Board consists of three members. The President and members are appointed and relieved from duty by the Government of the Republic of Serbia every 4 years.

The main function of the Supervisory Board is to supervise the activities of the Managing Board and Director.

The present members of the Supervisory Board, appointed by the Decision of the Government of the Republic of Serbia of November 1, 2003, are:

• Ph.D. Predrag Stojanovic, President
• Tamara Skiljevic, member
• Tatjana Prijic, member.

DIRECTOR

The Director of the National Employment Service is appointed by the Managing Board, upon the approval of the government of the Republic of Serbia.

Director’s authority, responsibilities and the scope of activities are stipulated by the Law on Employment and Unemployment Insurance (Article 70-71) and the Statute of the National Employment Service Article (27-31).

Mr. Radovan Ristanovic (lawyer by profession) has been appointed Director since March 29, 2004.

NES COUNCIL

The Council of the National Employment Service was established by the Decision of the NES Director, according to the Statute of the NES and the Regulations on internal organization and systematization of jobs in the NES.

The Council is a professional, advisory and consultative body of the National Employment Service. It express opinions and gives recommendations on issues and activities of strategic importance to the NES: employment (carrying out active employment policy programmes and measures), cooperation with private employment agencies, unemployment insurance and other issues related to the clients’ interests (relevant for policy development and implementation).
